Hand & Wrist

We depend on our hands and wrists during almost every facet of our day. So it is understandable how pain, numbness or tingling in your hands, fingers or wrists can be quite disturbing.

Your symptoms will help your orthopedist determine the cause of your hand or wrist problem. Try to keep a record of when you have the symptoms, where on your hand or wrist and what types of activities cause pain or extreme fatigue and share this record with your physician.

Wellness Tips
  • Regularly take a break or change positions when doing repetitive activities. This could include activities like knitting, typing, weeding, hammering, etc.
  • Change positions when holding objects for a long time.
  • Wear wrist guards when rollerblading, skateboarding or other similar sporting activities.
Do exercises that strengthen your hand and arm muscles.
  • Pay attention to your posture and how your work area is arranged. When typing, your forearms should be parallel to the floor and your fingers lower than your wrists.
